Job Description

We are looking for a Senior EC&I Engineer to work on a long term contract in Chorley.

The role is working Monday to Thursday – 2 days’ in the office, 2 days’ from home.

Rate is c£50-55 Ltd per hour (outside IR35, Umbrella or PAYE equivalent)

Duties for the Senior EC&I Engineer:

This role will suit a degree-qualified engineer with a strong background in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation design who enjoys taking ownership of engineering solutions from concept through to delivery, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety requirements and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver EC&I engineering solutions throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Produce and review engineering documentation including specifications, calculations, design reports and technical files.
  • Support concept, scheme and detailed design activities, ensuring designs are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Undertake design verification, validation and compliance activities in line with relevant legislation and industry standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, hazard assessments and risk reduction activities.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Support manufacturing, installation, commissioning and testing activities, providing technical guidance where required.
  • Contribute to bid preparation, technical proposals and project planning activities.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and value engineering.
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior engineers where appropriate.

Requirements for the Senior EC&I Engineer:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Control Systems, Instrumentation or a related engineering discipline.
  • Chartered, Incorporated or working towards professional registration.
  • Experience delivering EC&I design projects within a regulated engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards, compliance requirements and safety legislation.
  • Experience producing and reviewing technical documentation and engineering deliverables.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within nuclear, defence, energy, process, utilities or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of functional safety, UKCA/CE compliance and relevant industry standards.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and testing activities.
