We are recruiting for a Business Development Manager to work on a permanent basis in the St Helens area.
Territory: UK-wide and occasional international travel with hybrid working
Salary: £35,000- £40,000 ( dependent on experience) + bonus + company car
Holidays: 23 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays
An industry-leading manufacturer of machined composite and materials is seeking a dynamic, experienced Business Development Manager to expand its client base and build strategic partnerships across the UK.
Role Overview:
You’ll be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities within industrial sectors such as power generation, transportation, marine, or heavy engineering. This role suits someone with an established track record in technical or engineered product sales, particularly within the composites or insulation sector, who can build long-term relationships with technical buyers, engineers and procurement teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop new business opportunities through prospecting, referrals and targeted outreach
- Manage a portfolio of national accounts and grow existing revenue streams
- Meet face-to-face with key clients to understand their project needs and present tailored solutions
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure pricing accuracy and product suitability
- Attend relevant industry trade shows and exhibitions to represent the business
- Produce regular pipeline and progress reports to support forecasting
Desired Experience & Knowledge:
- Proven background in a technical sales or business development role, 3 years’ minimum experience
- Deep understanding of machined composites, insulation, resistant materials, or related industrial sectors
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrable experience working towards targets and KPIs
- Comfortable managing your own diary and territory with minimal supervision
- Full UK driving licence, held for at least 3 years and no more than 3 penalty points
- Industry knowledge training can be provided for candidates with transferable skills and a proven track record of BDM and B2B sales
