Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Glass Cutter to work on a permanent basis for a global manufacturing company based in St Helens.

Rate is c£13.50 PAYE per hour plus 25 days’ holiday and bank holidays, pension etc.

Duties/Experience for the Glass Cutter / Production Operative:

This role is ideal for someone with a strong production background who has hands-on experience cutting glass to specification and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will be responsible for accurately measuring, scoring, and cutting glass products while maintaining high quality standards and working safely at all times.

Key Responsibilities for the Glass Cutter / Production Operative: 

  • Measuring, marking, and cutting glass to precise sizes and specifications
  • Operating glass-cutting machinery and hand tools
  • Interpreting job sheets, technical drawings, and cutting schedules
  • Handling glass safely and preparing products for the next stage of production
  • Checking finished pieces for quality, accuracy, and defects
  • Maintaining a clean and organised work area
  • Following all health and safety procedures, particularly around glass handling
  • Supporting the wider production team when required

Requirements for the Glass Cutter / Production Operative:

  • Previous experience in a glass-cutting role (essential)
  • Background working in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Ability to read measurements accurately and work to tight tolerances
  • Good attention to detail and strong quality awareness
  • Comfortable working on your feet and handling materials throughout the shift
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
  • Awareness of health and safety in a production setting

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience using glass-cutting machinery in a factory environment
  • Experience in glazing, glass processing, or similar manufacturing roles
  • FLT licence or experience working with warehouse equipment
