Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to join a specialist engineering and manufacturing business. The role is working on a permanent basis near Ashton Under Lyne.

This role is responsible for managing new product introductions from initial enquiry through to production, ensuring projects are delivered on time, to specification and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities for the Project Engineer:

  • Manage engineering projects from quotation and initial sample stages through to full production.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and customer requirements.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes and production routes.
  • Produce technical documentation, work instructions and project reports.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams.
  • Work closely with Sales, Production, Quality and Engineering to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate project information using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, quality standards and industry regulations.

Requirements for the Project Engineer:

  • Degree, HND or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience within a precision engineering or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, surface engineering, machining or coating technologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience introducing new products into manufacturing (NPI).
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and CAD software.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within Aerospace, Defence, Motorsport, Automotive or another highly regulated engineering sector.
  • Knowledge of quality standards such as NADCAP, AS9100 or ISO standards.
  • Commercial awareness with experience supporting quotations, costing or technical proposals.
